she was not given the chance to apply for citizenship even though she was married to an American citizen and should have been given the right to do so. The use of the word 'hailed' in the article title is misleading. Hailed means greeted with enthusiastic approval. There was no enthusiastic approval demonstrated. She was mistreated by the government who tried to make an example of her to frighten other immigrants who try to become legal citizens and have every right to do so. This truly demonstrates the meanness of this administration in its bastardizing the immigration laws to their own end.
