my friends to a Home School Convention for 3 days. We would purchase curriculum and make lesson plans for the whole year.

Another idea is for you and your friend to join a local homeschool support group and talk with the other parents. Many moms swap books, sometimes for free, other times for a reduced price. That is, the moms will hand down books, such as textbooks their children have finished using. That way, your friend can collect a sampling of books and try them all.

BTW, suggestion: If you start the day at 8:00 then always start at 8:00, unless it is decided and announced beforehand. We called it BIC (Butt In Chair) time. School was Mon - Thurs Friday was field trip day.

Another suggestion if you decide to continue is to join HSLDA. They will defend you legally if the govt/teacher's unions come after you.
