Environmental acitivist - apologizes for "climate scare"

Posted: Jun 30th, 2020 - 9:40 am

In "Forbes" on Monday Michael Shellenberger, Time magazine Hero of the Environment and winner of the 2008 Green Book Award, wrote that he wanted to "formally apologize for the climate scare we created over the last 30 years."

He debunked 12 "climate-change" myths that have no scientific bases.  "Humans are not causing a 'sixth mass extinction," he wrote; nor is the Amazon "the lungs of the world."

Shellenberger stated that until last year he'd avoided speaking out against climate alarmism, partly because he was embarrassed since he was "as guilty of (it) as any other environmentalist."  Then last year things escalated:

"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, 'The world is going to end in twelve years if we don’t address climate change.'  Britain’s most high-profile environmental group claimed ‘Climate Change Kills Children,’” he writes.

These types of alarmist claims terrified gullible people and were not based on truth.  Shellenberger felt obligated to extend a formal apology for "our fear-mongering" in his book, Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All.
