OAKLAND -- The security guard shot and killed during Friday night’s unrest in Oakland has been identified as David Patrick Underwood of Pinole.

Underwood, 53, was identified Sunday by the FBI. A second guard was also shot and wounded. Both were working as contract security officers for the Department of Homeland Security, guarding the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building.

Pat, the middle child, stood out in athletics as a left-handed-shooting forward on the varsity basketball team and played center field and pitched...
