If your friend loves the Lord, he would agree with - Christian in NJ

His will being done. God calls us to worship in spirit and truth. Tell your friend you are seeking God's direction as to where He would have you worship, and then actually pray and ask Him. A God-honoring man should have the utmost respect for that, and a pastor should be utterly delighted with that plan. A clergyman is not your Lord. Jesus is your Lord, so ask HIM!

I didn't understand the distinction you were making about passion or the lack thereof. Jesus said, "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad." We either believe or we don't. We are either saved or we are not. Once we are saved, we can choose to draw closer to God, and He says He will then draw closer to us. Wherever you find the Lord leading you, I urge you to get to know Him better by reading the Bible. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
