The Green New Deal-real, tangible plans for the people - President Sanders

Senator Sanders and Representative Ocasio-Cortez have done it again. Their visionary Green New Deal for Public Housing Act bids fair (a) to bring rapid and massive economic growth, local empowerment, and environmental health to millions of Americans in hundreds of communities; (b) to jumpstart the Green New Deal as a whole throughout our country; and (c) to demonstrate quickly to all just how deeply integral the Green New Deal’s environmental renewal, participatory democracy, social justice, and inclusive prosperity objectives all are to each other.

The original Green New Deal vision is rooted in recognition that sustainable prosperity, planetary survival, local autonomy, and distributive justice go hand in hand. They are not separate values haphazardly thrown together in ‘wish list’ fashion, as climate-deniers and lobbyists for special interests sometimes cynically suggest, but are deeply and mutually integrated. To pursue any one of them intelligently is to pursue all of them simultaneously.
