the Urban Dictionary.

A term created for the sole purpose by conservatives meant to distance themselves from fascism by conning the public into thinking it can be applied to any ideology. This requires the audience to be ignorant to what fascism is. Fascism was in fact created as an answer to European Liberalism which was rebuilding Europe post WWI. The ingredients to fascism run counter to liberalism and combining the two to any version of liberalism is impossible. For instance, classic liberalism or more commonly known as libertarianism protects individual freedoms. Fascism requires totalitarianism and nationalism. Nationalism and individual freedoms run in opposite directions in regards to policy. Secondly, neo-liberalism is a similar approach to policy protecting free markets. Free markets and totalitarianism run in opposite directions in regards to policy. Fascism is not intolerance to opposing ideas, although it may seem totalitarian it is not nationalistic.
