universally disliked by most Americans. Pure socialism is not well liked. We have socialist-type programs used within our Democracy that can be a benefit to and are liked by many Americans. We have Social Security and Medicare, which are examples. Actually, mandated Federal income tax could be characterized as a socialist-type government program. While it isn't well liked by lots of people, most of us put up with it because we can see a benefit. So again, no Democratic Socialism is not the same as pure Socialism.
