Politics Latest Messages: I think it is DBP Solutions..

Yes, I realize that, but the health insurance we - got last year when unemployed

Was far better than the one available to us through my husband's work, so we would be eligible for that one. It cost $100/month and no huge deductible looming over us. To be honest, we did not use it much (except for dental, which it was great for), but the co-pays, if any, were negligible as far as my reading.

If he goes on SS, my husband can continue to look for a job that is not so taxing on his body and also try to pick up temporary work opportunities around this area, and not have to drive 80 miles a day just to get to work and back.

I'm not saying we will do this, both of us want to continue work as long as we can, but we have to consider this option and I'm sure we're not the only ones.

If his arthritis gets so bad he can't work, what will we do then? Not only will he have no income but we will probably have mounting medical bills due to his HDHP policy that we will likely not be able to pay.

His income at the moment also means I have to pay more self-employment tax than I would if I were alone.

I had in fact been looking forward to taking early SS myself just to supplement income and finally not have to worry about being able to pay the bills, but that was before I realized that if I did that our joint income must be capped at $32,000 or they would tax us 50% on anything more, so one of us on SS is probably a better option for us.

Amazing how the tax system penalizes the poor and rewards the rich, no?
