I think the whole system for checking if people - should be able to buy guns

needs to improve. In this case, the mother bought the gun, but in other instances the shooter bought the gun legally and then we later found out something got missed on the background check. We need to find a better way to integrate systems used in background checks so they are more thorough. It won't stop the violence because it is the shooter who makes the choice to kill, but it would help tremendously if nuts aren't allowed to own guns.

Just to be clear, I am a liberal and also believe in the second amendment, but we have to do something to stop the violence going on in the country.

As far as the advertising, maybe they should put it in with cigarettes and not be allowed to advertise. They could add alcohol to that list too. We know cigarettes are dangerous, but we also know guns and alcohol are dangerous in the wrong hands. Like cigarettes, if people want guns and alcohol, they know how to find them and what brand they like and will get them. I see commercials all the time where guns and alcohol are glorified and they shouldn't be.

You can disagree and that's fine, but this is my opinion and something needs to be done.
