They are from the same tyrannical left as Communism. There's a simple of scale of government control, from way too little, called "anarchy", to way too much, called various names including "communism". Fascism is clearly on the way too much end of the scale.
The scale that put Communism on one end and Fascism on the other end, holding Democracy in the middle was always a lie. I think one of the reasons this has not been clarified by pedants, politicians or journalists over the years is not for love of democracy, but because left-leaners really wanted a bogey-man that they could use as an 'opposite' extreme to help keep the masses tilted in their direction.
