The SOTU address - The Sarge - sm

Posted: Feb 7th, 2019 - 1:03 am

Overall I was impressed, but not surprised.  As former military I can see why our service people are proud to serve under our President Trump, Commander-in-Chief.  His speech was clear and precise.  He showed us he truly is a great leader.  Even CNN couldn’t fake it.  CNN said that 76% of their viewers had a positive view of the SOTU address, and since republicans don’t tune into CNN, that means 76% of liberals believe it was positive.  That’s very impressive.

Best line of the whole speech..."Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. America was founded on liberty and independence –- not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country."  And the look on Bernie and AOC’s face?  Priceless!  I was glad to see they were pretty sour grapes through the speech.  That means that President Trump is doing his job and doing it right.  And what’s up with the white uniform.  For this time of year it looked odd, aka, not appropriate.  Someone mentioned suffragette white, which people commented that can’t be right because women have been able to vote in this country for decades.  I really don’t think they knew why they were wearing white.  Just something they were told to do, like all their actions last night.  They had to keep looking around to get the cue to stand up, clap, laugh, sit down, and jump around like high school girls giving high 5’s.  Very bizarre, but...whatever.

This is a big win for the American people and a big loss for the socialists in office.  I see Sanders, AOC and the other socialists were not happy.  I have a friend who told me she believe’s AOCs days are numbered.  I hope she is right.  I do know that her agenda will not pass.  They looked like they were going to blow a gasket.  But this is what patriots fight for.  I'm glad President Trump is taking this seriously and I'm glad he has the best interest of the American people at heart.  He is the only leader that I have seen in my lifetime actually looking out for us, working for us, not their own pockets and their rich 1%er buddies.  No president before him ever did anything to help us since President Reagan and President Kennedy before him.  I found their actions last night not applauding that African-Americans, Hispanics and Asians are at record low unemployment, that they have better lives.  They were truly despicable.

Next best point of his address... “The agenda I will lay out this evening is not a Republican agenda or a Democrat agenda. It is the agenda of the American people.”

“Victory is not winning for our party. Victory is winning for our country.”

“But we must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution — and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good.”

“Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of America’s future. The decision is ours to make.

We must choose between greatness or gridlock, results or resistance, vision or vengeance, incredible progress or pointless destruction.  Tonight, I ask you to choose greatness.”

So many other great and historic moments. Another positive that came from the address last night is it showed the democrats for what they are.  The republicans looked like the adults and the democrats were the spoiled children who are pouting because they are not getting their way.

And one other positive...he didn't talk about himself like the last one used to.  All we ever heard from him was me, me, me.  I this, I that.  President Trump talked about the people, the country.  Everything he said was for the people and why we all need to work together for a better country for all of us.

And First Lady Melania.  Grace and beauty.  Poise and perfection.  Never have we had such a beautiful person, good at heart to be our first lady since Jacqueline Kennedy.  Our country is very lucky.

Maybe at the next speech Pelosi can leave her coloring books at home and instead read a copy of Emily Posts Etiquette.
