Thank you! (not with sarcasm) - Mary

I wanted to thank you for providing this information. It enabled me to research and try to understand where all the suppositions (in either direction) come from.

I live in NC, actually about 30 minutes from WS, although that doesn't impact this subject. Just coincidental, but interesting.

From what I understand, where some of the misunderstanding may come from is that when DACA recipients get driver's licenses (legimately, I might add), they are NOT also allowed to register to vote. As you know, one has to be a citizen in order to register to vote. Many DACA recipients have then gone on to become U.S. citizens, registered to vote, and then voted. However, the records don't always get updated that each of these individuals has become a citizen. Here's the scenario:

DACA recipient earns driver's license.
Later on becomes a citizen and registers to vote and then votes, but that person's DMV record has not been updated to reflect citizenship status.
Data collection indicates that person voted but is not a citizen. That skews the results.
(Hope this makes sense. I'm tired and was up all night with a sick dog and then had to spend $300 at the vet. My brain is foggy today.)
Anyway, I was able to figure this out for myself and gain a better understanding. I don't know about other states, but I live in NC. We don't have to show an ID to vote, but we have to be on the voter registration list. We check in at the voting site, tell the person our name and address, they find us on the list, we sign a form, and then vote. I personally think everyone in the country should have to show a form of ID, but that's just me.
