Oh really, that is what they call American - Exceptionalism?

Socioeconomic success?

Economic maybe yes, but certainly NOT social.

I thought exceptionalism was more about our character than how much money you could make in this country.

What I call it is this:

As soon as Trump got in massive deregulation of the labor market (to the average worker's detriment) and allowing rapacious business practices to the extent of reneging on international agreements and allowing corporations free rein to pollute as they please.

You will say MT has been dead a long time (I honestly don't know who is an MT on here besides me because every time I post about our own profession I get all sorts of guff about how I shouldn't be in it - and I wonder why all these people are posting on an MT board), but I noted soon after Trump got in that my MTSO started subcontracting and trying to get us to go with the contractors (meaning no employment protections of PTO, minimum wage, 401K, etc.) I think that would not have happened if he did not get in, but possibly would have happened if any Republican got in because that is what they do.

Of course businesses everywhere rejoice with this! They don't have to live here, do they? They live in places with good minimum wage, employment protections, a solid and non-demeaning safety net to help people who are poor and jobless, and most importantly decent health care.

What Trump has done is turn this job anyway into a third world sweatshop even worse than it was. Before we at least were guaranteed minimum wage, now we are guaranteed nothing. And if it's happening in our industry, we are just the tip of the iceberg.

I wouldn't know about the stock market, I had to cash in my 401K when I was on partial unemployment and then got laid off. I don't think I'm the only one either.

This is not a good government for poor and middle class people. It is great for upper class and rich people, and it is great for all these corporations and the stock market.
