I don't characterize his response as "controlled anger." Instead of blaming support for the Clintons and left wing groups he should have called for a complete and thorough investigation. But he didn't do that because he and Donald Trump wanted to get this confirmation through before the midterms. Why? Because Donald Trump is the subject of multiple investigations and Kavanaugh has said he doesn't think a sitting president can be indicted. Kavanaugh was not on Trump's original list for SC nominees but he quickly became his top choice after Trump learned about that opinion.
