Undercover video exposed IRS officials stiil targeting - conservative groups

Posted: Sep 25th, 2018 - 1:08 pm

On Tuesday, Project Veritas rolled out its 4th undercover video of its “Deep State Unmasked” series.

The latest undercover video exposes two IRS officials bragging about targeting conservative groups.

The two officials in the report are Thomas Sheehy, an IRS tax examiner and member of the Austin Democratic Socialists of America in Texas, and Jerry Semasek, an IRS attorney in Washington, DC.

Via Project Veritas:

Sheehy boasts about and appears to justify former disgraced IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, who was mired in scandal for losing tens of thousands of emails regarding the Lois Lerner controversy. The Lois Lerner controversy occurred in 2013 and involved revelations showing that the IRS unfairly scrutinized conservative groups.

SHEEHY: “John Koskinen. He got a lot of flak for giving increased scrutiny to these Tea Party groups. Conservatives got really mad at him, he was so cool though because he deleted all the emails, so they could not hold any evidence against him.”

Attorney Semasek, who worked for the IRS during the 2013 scandal said: "The law requires that an organization can’t be political, it can’t be partisan to be tax exempt… Those employees in Cincinnati Ohio started to separate them and put them in a pile. And it turns out that they were like the Tea Party group of people. And I think they did, like Lois Lerner.”

Lerner eventually faced a contempt of Congress citation, and IRS Commissioner John Koskinen finally left in 2017. If you thought that would mean the swamp had been drained, you’re wrong.

Despite the new administration, there are still “resisters” within the IRS that are keeping the same charade going. James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas has been releasing a series of videos blowing the lid off of the Deep State this month, and the latest installment is now out.

The first installments exposed communists at the State Department who used their resources to “resist” the Trump administration – using government time and resources to further the goals of the Democratic Socialists of America. One of the “resisters” used government resources to organize targeted harassment of DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen at her home. A third video featured someone from the Government Accountability Office using taxpayer dollars to help aid the Democratic Socialists of America.

Both State Department employees spoke gleefully about all the rules they were breaking and had little concern over being fired. The State Department and GAO did take notice of O’Keefe’s videos, so they all have something to worry about now.

As will Thomas Sheehy and Jerry Semasek, the two IRS employees featured in O’Keefe’s latest installment.

Among the things we learned? Former IRS Commissioner John Koskinen helped with the cover up. According to Sheehy, “John Koskinen got a lot of flak for giving increased scrutiny to these Tea Party groups. Conservatives got really mad at him, he was so cool though because he deleted all the emails, so they could not hold any evidence against him.”

Sheehy then admitted that the IRS actions constitute a crime – but he doesn’t rally care regardless. “Yeah, I don’t give a s**t if that is a crime for doing that because… you should give increased scrutiny to those groups because a lot of them are just f***ing fronts for the Koch brothers or whatever.” Sheehy is also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, and said he enjoys the flexibility his job offers, because it allows him to take paid sick leave to engage in DSA activism.

It’s worth noting that every single federal employee that O’Keefe captured on video admitted that it’s practically impossible to get fired from federal jobs.

What kind of quality workforce could one possibly assemble when the employees face no consequences for poor work, or violating their own employers’ rules? Such a set of incentives would bankrupt any company in the private sector, yet in the government, its just business as usual.

Federal employment has become the Hotel California, where nobody quits, and you can’t get fired. And look at the kind of criminal behavior it’s enabled.

This is exactly what the Deep State is all about. It doesn’t matter if Lerner or Koskinen or any other “top level” employee leaves. The permanent, left-wing bureaucrats who work under them are all the same.
