Propaganda? Carrey is out there giving misinformation on - the Canadian health care system.

Posted: Sep 11th, 2018 - 3:17 am In Reply to: See how people twist words without verifying - We live in a propaganda filled

Point one... Choose your own doctor? Many people I know don't even have a doctor, they're on a waiting list to get one. My brother's doctor recently moved and now he's on a list. Choosing your own doctor is almost never an option unless you happen to be in a town with one doctor. Then maybe it's an option.

Point number two... If Carrey's mother didn't pay for prescriptions then she was either on social assistance, or she had 'HEALTH INSURANCE' through her work place or paid for it herself.

Canada doesn't offer free prescriptions, free eye care or free dental. You pay for it. The typical health insurance plan cost roughly $1500 to $2500 per year and when you do obtain services, there is typically a co-pay amount of 20% of the cost for whatever procedure you are receiving.

If you're lucky you're employer will offer you a health care plan, and you will pay a portion of the cost. If you're on social assistance then it's all covered... The working poor go without.

Mr. Carrey paints a rosy picture of Canada's healthcare system for his American audience... While many Canadians who actually still living in this country sit back and laugh at his pandering.

Many Canadians comes to America for surgeries because the waiting list it too long in Canada.

Anyone who wants socialized medicine should follow a disabled veteran to their V.A. appointments.

I get fed up hearing wealthy Canadian showbiz types like Carrey who lecture to us peons in both countries in this manner.

I have a friend Judy who waited just under two years for a knee replacement, and another year for a second one.

Choose your doctor...there are so few around, if you find one taking patients, you choose that one. Because it’s the only one. So your actual option when looking for a doctor is take it or leave it.

It reminds me of when the kids were young and I gave them two choices for dinner. Take it or leave it.
