The bill had grown to over 2000+ pages because of all the spending the Dems wanted and the Republicans were stupid enough to let them be extorted because Trump and the Republicans wanted more military spending so they didn't have to worry about being killed in helicopters or airplanes like is happening more frequently because they are using graveyard parts to try to fix the planes.
I am furious with the GOP for allowing the Dems to win again. When are they going to get a backbone and stop allowing the Dems to get their way all the time? I'm furious that Congress was in such a hurry to go home for the weekend that they didn't take more time to read the bill and vote sensibly on it. They KNEW this spending bill was going to come up weeks ago. Why didn't they start debating it weeks ago? Because the Dems knew if they waited to the last minute, the GOP would be forced to pass or shut down.
I'm also furious with Trump for signing this bill. He should have vetoed. So the government would shut down. So what? It didn't hurt much the last time.
In my book, what this Congress aka Dems did was extortion and very much against the people of this country just to keep a win from the president. They should be ashamed.
