The claim is 1129 people were killed by police in 2017.

Officers were charged with a crime in 12 of those cases, or about 1%.

That's all I need to know. This one statistic tells me the ELECTED law enforcement officials in the other 1117 cases felt the killings were justified and officers committed no crime. If the people in those areas don't like it they should elect different sheriffs.

Now then, shall we talk about those 1117 justified police actions? Yes, let's. OP, please present the facts on each of these killings.

For example, we have the post a few days ago (see link at bottom) where cops justifiably shot and killed a woman who was attacking them. The woman died but a stray bullet also hit an innocent child. We can safely assume that child was unarmed and non-threatening, as defined by these statistics. However, it should be obvious to anyone who read the story, the 4 cops that shot the woman were not responsible for that child's death.

That is an excellent example of how sites lie with statistics.

If you really want to do something about police violence, you should concentrate on the 12 cases where officers were charged with a crime. Figure out how those deaths could have been avoided.
