Jesus foretold the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 CE. That was punishment for not accepting Jesus as the Messiah. Because they didn't accept the Messiah they are no longer God's chosen people. That destruction made it impossible to carry out the requirements of the Jewish religion as given in the Law of the Old Testament.

Israel is just another country, disobeying God, and not following the Bible.
