DACA - I hope they do it - right this time

These people that were brought over by their parents years ago, by no choice of their own, think of the US as their home.  Most of them have appreciated being in the US and have created productive lives and/or served in our military risking their lives to protect us and our country.  Many have grown up to be teachers, doctors, opened businesses.

Democrrats in Congress had many times tried to create "The Dream Act" to give these people a path to live in our country and work their way to citizenship.  This was shot down mostly by republicans.  It had very strict rules on what they must do, including going to college, serving in our military and staying out of trouble.  Obama did what he felt was right by this EO since The Dream Act would not pass.

Many seem to misunderstand this and confuse it with letting illegals stay here and live off freebies while committing crimes.  This simply is not true.  This act would keep the best of the best here who feel very honored to live in our country and appreciate what living in the United States means.

I do hope Congress finally will put together and once and for all come up with a law to protect these people.  There is hope.  Republicans are now changing their tune.  Now they will be able to "take credit for it."  I for one really don't care who takes credit for it, but since all they know how to do is play games, maybe it will now get through and protect these people who truly know what an honor it is to live in our country.

This was never an attempt by Obama to "open the borders" as many claim.  It was a way to keep honest, hardworking people in our country who only know this as home.  There were strict rules associated with this EO and if they weren't followed, they would be sent back.
