The hurricane takes precedent over you collecting unemployment or looking for another job because you are able to do something about your situation. There are worker retraining programs for displaced people such as MTs and there are federal programs that would allow you to go back to school called Pell grants. Be thankful for the roof over your head and that job leads are the most important thing on your mind right now. I have neighbors whose homes have burned to the ground and lost everything but the clothes on their backs and only the grace of God protects any of us from natural disasters. We're all concerned with keeping the lights on and food on the table but there are people in Texas who currently have nothing and have also lost family members. Count your blessings.
