Trump's Tempest In a Teapot:

Posted: Jul 20, 2015

First of all, if anyone owes an apology, it's McCain for starting the whole thing by calling Trump's supporters "crazies."  Funny how that gets left out of the discussion.

Second, while Trump's comments were undoubtedly impolitic, they're nothing that hasn't been heard before from Democrats, since before the 2008 Presidential campaign.  For instance, General Wesley Clark saying that "getting shot down in a plane doesn't qualify you to be President" while others have pointed out that he produced propaganda videos for the Viet Cong while in captivity.  Excused on the basis of torture, of course, but there were others who were tortured and didn't yield to such demands, and that's been forgotten, too.  Democrats weren't bashful about trivializing Bob Dole's military service during his Presidential run, either.  So all this phony outrage from the liberal side isn't worth the paper it's printed on.  McCain probably had no idea how many liberal friends he has...although he should, based on his voting record.

And that's point three - for Donald:  Attack McCain's voting record - a RINO if ever there was one.   If someone points out that McCain is a "war hero", just say "That doesn't entitle him to call my supporters names, does it?"  You won't get an answer.

Don't care what either one of them said - but TRUMP is delusional, lying

He may have technically said McCain is a war hero, but it was in a childish stabbing way, yeah, I guess getting shot down makes him a war hero, way. It's like making a kid apologize. You know they don't mean it, they just say it because the realize what they said to begin with wasn't good, and it was going to be trouble for them.

Trump is a man-child, spoiled, rotten brat. He was just spouting off because McCain called his supporters crazies---BTW does Palin support Trump?

Trump is a war ZERO. - A Veteran

It's fun to listen to those conservative politicians and their ilk who happily swift boated John Kerry now whining about how United States veterans should not be treated with disrespect..... hypocrites all.

Trump is a joke that doesn't know when to keep it's trap closed. It has no manners, no tact, no diplomacy, no class, no foreign policy experience, no political experience, and a very large trap on its face that keeps flapping open. I think John McCain was right on the money with his assessment of Trump and its supporters.

Anyone who served and for whatever reason they chose to serve should not have their service ridiculed, believe me. Having said all that, anyone who thought Sarah Palin was the best candidate for the vice presidency in 2008 has no room to talk about crazies. LOL.

The Con clown car is overflowing with stupidity, and they are saying things they can't walk back, bashing away at each other. Although I think Trump deserves everything they are saying about it, I think they are all idiots for acting like children.

I keep picturing the Trump in battle - something he - studiously avoided, but still

Can you imagine?

"Hey, yooz guyz, shoot those Viet Cong for me and make it snappy, otherwise You're Fired! I didn't come all the way here to get captured, that's for loozas like John McCain."

He would be an abject failure as a soldier. I guess he thinks he's a winner because he avoided the draft?

His ego knows no bounds, he believes he has the right somehow to criticize anyone and anything, and he is really really awful.

I'd love to see Trump go through boot camp! He wouldn't last one day.

He'd be intentionally killed by friendly fire. - Wouldnt last 2 days.

However, Selective Service records reveal that Trump, the fortunate son of a multimillionaire real estate baron, took repeated steps to avoid serving in Vietnam.

By the time his number (356) was drawn during the December 1, 1969 draft lottery, Trump had already received four student deferments and a medical deferment, according to military records on file with the National Archives and Records Administration. An extract of Trump’s Selective Classification record, seen here, was provided in response to a TSG records request.

In fact, the December 1969 draft lottery occurred about 18 months after Trump graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied business at the Wharton School. So, while claiming that he would “never forget” being at Wharton watching the draft numbers being drawn, the 64-year-old Trump seems to have misremembered, as candidates are fond of saying.

Trump obtained his first two Class 2-S student deferments in June 1964 and December 1965, when he was student at Fordham University in the Bronx. He was briefly reclassified as 1-A--or "available for military service"--in late-November 1966, but that classification was switched back to 2-S three weeks later.

Another 2-S deferment is dated January 16, 1968, just months before his graduation from UPenn (to which he transferred following his sophomore year at Fordham).

Following his UPenn graduation, Trump--no longer qualified for a 2-S deferment--was again briefly classified as available for service on July 9. However, three months later, on October 15, his classification was switched to 1-Y, which was given to men deemed qualified for military service “only in time of national emergency.”

The 1-Y classification came a month after Trump underwent an “Armed Forces Physical Examination,” according to Selective Service records, which note the results of the exam as “DISQ.” While the military records do not further detail why Trump was granted the 1-Y deferment, a 1992 biography of the businessman by journalist Wayne Barrett reported that Trump received a medical deferment following the September 17, 1968 exam.

Trump’s 1-Y classification stayed in effect until February 1, 1972 when it was changed to a 4-F classification (which covered registrants not qualified for military service). The change in classification was likely prompted by the military’s December 1971 decision to abolish the 1-Y classification.

The Selective Service records also include a copy of the registration card signed by Trump in June 1964, 10 days after he turned 18. The possible future Commander-in-Chief, it turns out, has birthmarks on both his heels. (3 pages)

He probably got disqualified because they - could tell he was freaking NUTS.

He would've been a danger to all those who served with him.

This is - Reality

Any true politician knows that surrogates are used to attack someone's war record, something GWB's puppet masters did so well when they swiftboated JK, helping torpedo his presidential ambitions.

DT's beating up on an octogenarian vet for no real reason is just further proof that he has no desire to be president; he's promoting himself, and possibly his next reality show "The Apprentice... on the Campaign Trail."

Mr. Trump probably has some inside information on what really went on with the prisoners who were there with McCain. Some of them tried to address Congress, but were shut up. So one cannot help but wonder why we never get to hear everyone equally.

All I have seen is Hillary bashing on this site. Has anyone mentioned how brash, rude, and just plain disgraceful Trump is acting during his speeches? How he made fun of a disabled person, how he is planning on attacking China?, how he told a woman to remove her crying child from the room during one of his "speeches"? Do any of you realize he has no idea how to be diplomatic? Do you realize what will happen to the USA if he ticks off China and starts another war, especially with this superpower ...

I am so sick of how this election is going.  How can any of the so called Senators in this race say that he would not be a good President as well as others in the Washington elite.  I mean look at President Obama, really what qualifications did he really have.  I would like to have policy specifics but as I recall, Obama during his election did not have a lot of substance.  Let the voters pick who they want and let the Washington establishment stay out of it. ...

I would ask all my supporters to tell any pollster who calls that they support Hillary Clinton. One of two things would probably happen: 1. Pollsters fall for it and get the election wildly wrong. 2.
