Regrettable, but all administrations do this--an administration advantage to offset having to defend their inevitably imperfect and incomplete records. After all, no matter how incompetent he might be and unable to deal with the extremists in his own party, and no matter how strongly he supported the policies that brought us to this mess (VERY strong support), Romney doesn't have to defend an only 7.8% rate.
