for using the term "opposite day" while replying to a poster who used the moniker "Proud Liberal" who was so obviously not a proud liberal (they thought they were being slick by trying to post something somewhat negative while claiming to be a liberal). Anyhow, I said how I thought opposite day was a blast when I was young and used the moniker "Proud Conservative" to show that I was totally willing to play. I thought this would be nicer than calling the OP out on it, but I thought wrong. Opposite Day is HIGHLY offensive!

So being the total rebel that I am, I posted a pic of coffee (opposite of tea).
Is kava a bad word, too? - nm -A list would be nice

of responding to negativity and ugliness with humor and lightheartedness, which is how I'm interpreting this.
Agree with positive of humor; but let's face it, some - are not up to even a one-to-one with some

on the other side, so a whole group of clever "humorists" highjacking some obnoxious thread is going to be overwhelming. Even though the intent of many of these threads is to troll, to attack, or to spread lies, this's not just potentially unkind, its effect so far is rather...anti-discussion? Merely mirroring hostility in a different tone?

Since trying to actually answer really foolish or aggressive posts often seems counterproductive, my favorite tactic is not to encourage bad behavior by responding directly to it (when I can restrain myself :) and often to take the issue raised and introduce it more responsibly on a new thread. More boring than joining in a swarm of at-yous, maybe, but...

Sorry, never mind original post, got too convoluted. Still don't get what you're saying or who you're suggesting is being "anti-discussion" or "mirroring hostility in a different tone" (though, I guess, as one of the "humorists," I'm one?), but this thread was not "hijacked," it was a totally original thread in response to a Moderator action, not another post or thread.
Not THIS thread. And am enjoying it, just concerned - about potentially overdoing.

I don't think you're going to see a bunch of "humorist hijackings" as the board moves on, if previous forum experience (not necessarily just here) is any indication. I think this is (was? I've been away all weekend) a deliberately over-the-top response to a specific irritant and not the new normal for the forum.
