Would think that since gun lovers are so proud of their second amendment rights, they wouldn't mind when a doctor asks if he/she owns a gun. And of course this would happen in Florida, where there seems to be more than just a few armed crazies roaming around - George Zimmerman and Michael Dunn . . .

It's not the doctor's business if someone owns - a gun. It's a violation of
[ In Reply To ..]first amendment rights. When people ask me stuff like that, I tell them I have a brother who is a trial lawyer. Besides, I don't recall that being in the Hippocratic oath. The false premise is that guns are a health risk.
Or you could just say "no" I don't have any guns.

There's a reason why they ask. They also ask - if you use seat belts in your car,
[ In Reply To ..]or if you have any tattoos. There's a reason behind their questions, but it has nothing to do with Big Brother spying on us, or violating our constitutional rights. People get so fixated on some of the minutia of life, they forget to step back and look at the big picture.

They also ask about suicidal and homicidal ideation as well as guns in the home. Pretty bazaar that anyone would think a doc should not do this.

Gun lovers are so proud of themselves for being such real "Mericans," and showing that pride by sticking with the NRA and their mantra "The answer to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun?" The doctor is just doing his/her job. By the way, how do tell a good guy with a gun from a bad guy with a gun?

Furthermore, there is no law that says you MUST tell your doctor the truth.
