First Watergate, now this

An attitude of entitlement, don't you think?

Glad to see the guy is gone, although I had a hard time putting it on the level with Watergate. Now that's what I would call getting caught red handed! LOL

Even still, I wonder what other "great ideas" this goober had throughout his career as an Indiana prosecutor? I hope someone is looking into his past dealings.

Admittedly, I only skimmed through the article, but are you accusing Walker and/or the Republican Party for this guy's really bad idea?

Not the OP, but yes, I think this guy is a symbol of the Republican party/Walker - see message

To be fair, I would say that probably about 30% of Republicans are this extreme, not all of them of course.

It has nothing to do with replublicans... - tsk tsk for suggesting so

It has everything to do with one person suggesting such an idiotic idea.

One person does not equate to all republicans.

There is a difference.

I didn't think the last election was about crushing workers - Rosie

by using whatever means they deem necessary. It was supposed to be about jobs for workers. I also don't think anyone realized that the goal was to take from the poor and give more to the rich. It seems that is what is happening, though.

I do not believe one person lost their job in - Wisconsin....

[ In Reply To ..]
not did anyone take anything from the rich and give it to the poor. What it did was ask the union workers give a little back so it did not end up costing every worker in Wisconsin more, because it is taxpayer dollars who pay the public workers in Wisconsin...

a fact that so many keep forgetting.

I thought when Obama was elected it was all about putting people to work too...has not happened. That is why we are in the third round of extending unemployment benefits.

The last election was about cutting costs to address the deficit. The only way to reduce the deficit is to cut the spending we are doing and not add anymore spending until it is under control. Another thing that people fail to mention.

Unless you have another suggestion as to how to address the deficit...which if left to grow will one day cause more of an economic crash that you can imagine.

So...when criticizing what is being done, make alternate suggestions, and make them to your congresspeople. What the Republicans are suggesting is what needs to be done. Now if you don't liike the areas they want to cut, then notify your Dem congresspeople you would like to see the cuts in a different area. What the Dems are doing in washington is not suggesting alternatives, just putting their fingers in their ears and chanting "we won't hear you" instead of offering alternatives. It's like they think the deficit is going to *poof* disappear.

Actually, I found this very informative and interesting. Thanks for posting it.

I think what is creating most of the problem in this state is that we have prided ourselves for 50 years or more with having strong workers' rights, and then Walker is elected and those rights are being tampered with. He has not been up front with the people either and really does not seem to care what the people think, has so far refused to negotiate.

The above message (Do you mean I am not a liar?) was in response to the link Backwards Typist posted. I see that it was posted twice.

LOL...you got that right! I tried to delete the initial message and was unable to do it.

On a more serious note, I was called a liar when I posted things that are similar to what are in Backwards Typist's link below. I did not, however, mean that Backwards Typist is the person who said I lied about things (felt the need to clarify that). On the other hand, I am not so sure that the person who posted "I do not believe one person lost their job in - Wisconsin" is not the person who accused me of spreading lies in past weeks.
That whole thread got so convoluted that it made me dizzy - I couldn't follow it so I stopped trying

I felt like I came in at the end of the movie. LOL. I'll try to get in at the beginning of the next one and maybe I'll understand the topic.
It is hard when not everyone uses a moniker - Indy

to know who posts what. It could be someone mimicking another anonymous poster's style so that they can shoot barbs and get it blamed on someone else. And these boards are created to be anonymous...so probably the best bet is not to assume that the same person is posting all the time, even if the content is similar.

That's what I try to do...treat every post like someone new (those without a moniker). Because I sure don't want to wrongfully accuse anybody...enough of that going around anyway!! :-) just my two cents.

WI budget battle - Backwards Typist

[ In Reply To ..]

I've copies the summary but the analysis, questions and answers are below this summary. Read up on it.

The budget battle in Wisconsin has generated much confusion and misinformation, as we have seen in e-mails from our readers in recent days:

  • The state is not on track to end this fiscal year with "a slight surplus." It is facing a $137 million deficit this fiscal year and a $3.6 billion deficit in the next two-year budget cycle.

  • It’s also not true that "the average Wisconsin teacher’s salary is $100,000." Salaries vary by school district. It’s true, however, that the total average compensation — salary and benefits — exceeded $100,000 for Milwaukee teachers in fiscal year 2011.

  • It is true that Gov. Walker’s plan would strip nearly all collective bargaining rights from teachers and many other state and local employees, and University of Wisconsin employees would lose those rights altogether. But police, firefighters and state troopers would be exempt.

  • Wisconsin is one of 35 states where teachers have mandatory collective bargaining rights. But it’s not true that only five states do not have collective bargaining. Five states ban it, while 10 others don’t guarantee it.

  • A claim that Wisconsin ranks second in combined SAT and ACT scores is based on 12-year-old data and flawed methodology. Even the author of that report says it shouldn’t be taken "too seriously."

Excellent piece in the Washington Times on this SHAMEFUL SCANDAL:  A year ago this week, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered. We now know the horrifying truth: Agent Terry was killed by weapons that were part of an illegal Obama administration operation to smuggle arms to the dangerous drug cartels.
