Arnold Schwarzenegger Wears ‘I Survived Maria’ T-Shirt
by Justin Fenner | 12:34 pm, August 9th, 2011 You know those fun t-shirts that people buy as a joke after a particularly difficult college course or a weekend retreat with the company? Well, former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has one of those, too! For his marriage. The Governator, who’s in the process of divorcing Maria Shriver, wore a t-shirt saying “I Survived Maria 1977 — 2010″ this weekend on a bike ride in Santa Monica. TMZ reports that the staff that served Shriver when she was first lady of California made the shirts as a joke. Originally, they said ” I Survived Maria 2007 — 2010,” but the one the staff gifted Schwarzenegger had the 2007 crossed out in favor of 1977, the year he and Shriver started dating. It’s like it almost foretold the end of their marriage, or something. But in the wake of Schwarzenegger’s extramarital infidelity (to say nothing of his lovechild and the maid he more or less employed as a live-in lover), we think it’s pretty insensitive of him to wear a shirt that suggests he’s the one who got the raw end of the stick — especially when he knew he was going to be photographed wearing it. It’s not like the text on the shirt is discreet, either — you could probably see the insult written across his back from a block away. It’s just another case of a poorly timed t-shirt bearing a tasteless, offensive message. There must be something in the water. |
