Here's what MSNBC host Chris Matthews on "Hardball" said to Hillary Clinton regarding her likely bid for the presidency in 2016: "If you're watching, Madam Secretary, all three of us have brilliant ideas. All of us have brilliant ideas. And I especially put myself in that group with Joan and David. We know how to do this, we’ll get you in there." ;

Again, with Chris Matthews. - I'm grumpy.

So from what I've seen on here, Chris Matthews is an openly liberal TV personality who has his own show? Is his show Hardball?

:). OP, yes, Matthews has a liberal discussion show. - Like Hannity's is conservative. Don't

confuse discussion with journalism. The real unbiased thing is out there. I recommend national TV and radio, PBS and NPR, for instance. Study after study show them to be honest and as unbiased as one can expect in an imperfect world and their viewers far better informed than those who get their news from either Fox's or MSNBC's.

Whatever you do, though, don't make the mistake of interpreting unbiased coverage as biased because it doesn't please you...

After all, people who can't trust THEMSELVES for unbiased analysis are truly screwed. :)

I agree - I'm grumpy.

I don't watch Fox or MSNBC, so a lot of time I have no idea who some of the people are that are brought up here.

If someone has their own show, like a talk show, they can say whatever they want. They can support whoever they want. People don't have to watch that show if they don't like their opinions. But it's important not to confuse such shows with *the news* (such as NPR).
Agreed. I also think it's also important not to confuse... - pcpt

Again, no one really watches CM.

However, I'll pretend that I'm totally insulted and offended just to give RWers the warm and fuzzies.

Good job!

Are there any other examples - of so-called journalists

who offered support for a political candidate to the point of actually campaigning on air for them? I know the left and right favor their own side, but to actually say the equivalent of "We'll get you there?" This is intriguing.

Mitt Romney Meets With Conservative Media Off The Record:

"Details of the Romney meeting did not previously leak out because of the off-the-record ground rules. So even though there were as many as 60 writers at the Capitol Hill Club gathering, along with others calling in by phone, they weren't permitted to cover it."

My post was intended to show that politicians and media frequently talk to each other and about each other on and off the record. I don't find it particularly intriguing.

Ailes/Petraeus ring a bell? - BillyJoe

Woodward reports that Ailes, who has worked as an aide for several Republican presidents, was considering stepping down from Fox to run a Petraeus campaign. Under the plan, Rupert Murdoch, the Australian media magnate who owns Fox News, would "bankroll" the campaign. And Fox News itself, in McFarland's words, would act as Petraeus' "in-house" operation. Petraeus politely refused the offer, but he did have some suggestions when McFarland asked him, in total violation of journalistic standards, whether "there [is] anything Fox is doing, right or wrong, that you want to tell us to do differently?" Petraeus suggested that Fox should cover the war in Afghanistan less critically.

I saw that! He looked right into the camera - withhis "I adore Hillary" eyes
