ganglion cyst?

Just a few days ago I noticed a sore spot on the inside, palmar side of my wrist. I thought at first I had bruised it, but then a couple of days later I noticed it was more painful and there is now a lump there, very painful. There seems to be swelling that goes around to the outside of my wrist (not much swelling but I can tell it's puffy compared to my other wrist) from the lump, and today it's making my entire hand hurt and there is a bit of tingling and numbness, though not much of either. The pain is making my entire right hand and arm hurt now, however. Could this be a ganglion cyst? I type about them all the time, but for some reason this doesn't look like what I envisioned a ganglion cyst to look like.

Hard or soft? s/m - Val

If its hard, could be a bone spur, but if its soft, it sounds like a ganglion and not uncommon to have on the wrist. Less likely is a sebaceous cyst (both ganglion cysts and these are fluid filled). Have it checked out. Easily fixed. Good luck!

It's firm, but not hard. I forgot to mention also that there is a reddish hue to it, which is why I thought I had bruised it at first.

Did you bang it or hit it against something by any chance? See if it begins to turn black/blue over the next few hours, or even try to ice it down.

I've had 2 on my left wrist and 1 on my right. - Tired.

They just look like a bump under the skin, and can be painful. My doctor said they usually don't do anything to treat them unless they cause pain. A person who types all day just exacerbates it and makes it worse. All of mine had to be surgically removed.

They were aspirated first and then grew back. The surgery was not bad at all with very little recovery time.
