de Quervain's tenosynovitis

I think I have de Quervain's tenosynovitis in my right hand. It came on very suddenly, just within the last two days. Last night I couldn't use my hand at all because it hurt so bad. I coulldn't even brush my teeth. It's affecting my ability to work, obviously. Should I get to a doctor right away, or is there something else I should be doing? I'm very concerned about my ability to work - as all of you know, if we don't work, we don't get paid! Has anyone been through this who has any advice?

[ In Reply To ..]I have not had dq tenosynovitis,but I type for a group of hand ortho surgeons who see patients with it all the time.
Most commonly suggested is a rigid wrist support at night. I have a set myself and use them at nighttime when I am fatigued and it really seems to make me feel better in the morning.
The newest treatment is an ultrasound-guided steroid injection. My docs have been running a study, so I don't know if it is commonplace yet. Returning patients have been finding benefit.

[ In Reply To ..]But it turned out I misdiagnosed myself. It's actually arthritis of the first CMC joint. The ortho doc gave me a steroid injection today. Will have to wait and see if it helps.

[ In Reply To ..]Someone told me about Dr. Sarno's book- mindbody prescription- It basicly helps you heal yourself. I'm going to give it a try before going to an orthopedist!!
