Vertigo/BPPV

Posted: Aug 22, 2012

WOW.  For a long time, months or years?, I would have room spinning and dizziness when lying down in bed, turning head in bed, getting up from lying down.

One day I bent over to the side from my chair to pick something up and had a horrid bout of room spinning/dizziness that lasted most of the day.

I got referred to physical therapy and had the Epley maneuver.  NO MORE DIZZINESS.

AND as an added bonus, I no longer am sleepy tired all day long.

Get a referral to PT for the Epley maneuver if you too suffer !!

Thank you - Me, too

That won't even be difficult for me to remember . . Epley is my niece's married name! Thanks so much for posting this. I suffer with vertigo as well, and I know that horrible feeling of the room spinning.

Epley is a Godsend - Nancy

I have had BPPV for years but it got significantly worse this year. I had the Epley maneuver done and the doctor showed me how to do it myself. I had to do three sets of three (3 x 3) every day for almost a month before the canalith stayed put. It is wonderful to be free from BPPV. Of course, he also told me not to go on roller coasters or spinning rides because the canalith are likely to move again under those conditions.

BTW, the doctor was ear/nose/throat.

If you suffer from this, there is hope. My family doctor didn't know about the Epley maneuver, so take something with you that you've printed off the Internet just in case.

Semi-controlled on medications.  Nothing like this has ever happened to me before.  I had to go to the ER because I had so much anxiety I thought I would have a heart attack.  They just gave me Zofran and valium and sent me home, telling me to follow up with ENT and/or neurology.   I had a CT (negative) and an MRI, which I had to repeat because they wanted to get a closer look at my pineal gland.  Now, I'm terrified I might have some kind of a brain tumor becau ...
