cribbage -any strategies?

Just learning - having a hard time winning. There's got to be some strategy to this!!

I haven't played in so long, though. Look for combinations where you can make 15. Try not to break up a double run (i.e. 6,7,8,8 or 7,8,8,9) - particularly when the cards add up to 15. It can be good to hold onto an Ace or a low card because sometimes it helps you get closer to 21 for the hand. Even when it's your own crib, try to maximize the points in the hand you're going to hold.
