I fell down my stairs the other day...

I'm fine now, just had a very sore neck for a couple of days and some bruises. I got a head CT and a c-spine x-ray, both were negative.

I was headed upstairs to my office, near the top, when my knee just gave out on me. When I realized I was going to fall, I rolled up into a ball and shifted left toward the nearer wall. Then i ended up doing a series of backward rolls or tumbles down the steps. I think this is what saved me from breaking my neck or back, which is what I thought would happen if i just fell straight backward down 12 steps.

What amazed me is how everything went into "slo-mo" and I was actually able to think about what was happening and develop a plan. I still had time to flash on Joan Crawford in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" lol.

Just wondering if others have had similar experiences?

and did not suffer more than you did. What a horrible feeling as one goes down. While I never fell down stairs, I have fallen from other things, being the klutz that I am, and, yeah, things seemed to go in slow-mo, but I never had time to flash on a movie. : )

FYI, everyone, heed the posted warning not to push a very large, wheeled trash bin without the lid closed. At least I did not end up IN the bin as my brother did. LOL.

Who Fell Asleep First On Your Wedding Night?Oct 29, 2009
DH was watching something on TV and I overheard them saying something about superstitions.  Apparently, the spouse who falls asleep first on your wedding night is the one who will die first.  I don't remember for sure but I think my hubby did 'cause I'd never been to Charleston, SC and wanted to stay up enjoy more wine on the balcony.      ...

I'm The Queen Of Klutz! Tripped And Fell OnNov 30, 2014
Oh, my gosh.  Have you guys ever tripped and fallen in public and tried to pretend that everything was fine?    My teenage son and I were at the checkout lane at Meijer.  My back was killing me from walking on concrete so long while shopping, so my son said to go sit on a bench and he'd unload the carts.  (Yes, there were 2.)  I proceeded to walk over to the bench when suddenly a guy to my left turned around at the same time, and I tripped over his foot and we ...

New graduate-MT- I fell at work tripping over  a plastic carpet runner, resulting in a broken bone in my shoulder.  Was still in the process of testing for part time employment, so guess this will have to wait 6 weeks or so. I would greatly appreciate prayers!  Also, prayers are requested for the Hurricane Irene destruction! ...
