How much - Woe is me

Posted: Jul 26th, 2021 - 12:26 pm In Reply to: How much should a donut baker/deli worker make? - Kroger is union. The market used

I don't know how much deli workers should make, how much should MTs make? The local fast food places where I live are hiring people for $14-$16 and hour. They're non-union, but it's gotten very expensive to get takeout. Our minimum wage is $13.65 an hour, and I don't know how anyone pays rent, let alone eats, on that. Kroger probably has a wage scale that they use for employees, and union or not, deli workers and cashiers probably don't get paid the same. It's a different world now, but unemployment never used to pay as much as a regular job. Many states are still subsidizing people for UE over and above what they would normally pay, and that needs to stop. If we want donuts, I guess we will have to pay the price, or learn to live without them.
