Need advice about keeping food frozen and cold - sm

Posted: Jul 2nd, 2021 - 11:35 am

when the power goes out for days.  I've read about keeping the freezer and fridge doors closed, yadayada.  I want to know if ziplock bags with frozen water are just as effective as those dry ice shipping packets for keeping food in the fridge cold enough not to rot for 3 or 4 days just in case?  Do I need to spend the money?  My thinking is that if I cram a bunch of ice bags in the fridge it'll help keep the food good, and if I cram them into the freezers, it'll keep food frozen longer, and how long can I expect stuff to last?  I'm not worried about losing power, just keeping the food palatable after it's over.  Any advice is appreciated and TYIA.
