if you take race out of the equation - you'll see the reality

Look at all the problems blamed on "systemic racism." Lack of access to healthcare, lack of educational opportunities, low income, crime rates, drug use, lack of ability to prosper. The media focus on these problems in minority communities. Well, I live in a rural state in Appalachia. I could take you to places where the exact problems exist, but predominantly in white rural towns. You can't blame systemic racism then, right?
So what is the cause? Same causes across the board, black, brown, white. These communities have gone down the toilet because they lost some kind of industry. Automobile manufacturing, factories, coal mines, steel mills, supporting businesses (restaurants, health care), etc. The lack of revenue led to the schools going to pot because of lack of funding, people would have to commute a good distance out of their local area for jobs/college/healthcare. So begins the spiral of living off the government, crime rates and drug sales/use goes up. Often these circumstances lead to unhealthy lifestyles and chronic health problems. The cycle is passed to the next generation.
That's just my take on it. Racism plays no part. It's not a black or Hispanic problem. It's an economically depressed geographical area problem.
