I know someone who contacted a school board wanting - them to teach real black history and good

things, not just bad. That person was told that they only want stories of victimhood, not overcomers.

Real black history is interesting, and not populated with grievances, but populated with "can do" people who overcame the zeitgeist. It's their accomplishments that are interesting not any laundry list of grievances.
These people still exist, but their accomplishments are buried by the left wing racists who only peddle an ugly mythology. The fact is that hard work, real education in real subjects, and perseverance will always win the day. Doesn't matter what your race is.

With ysterda the birthday of Frederick Douglass, it would do all of America well to read his “Up From Slavery” on how the emancipated black population could find its way successfully in a largely white country. He had a particularly strong distaste for identity politics. Lincoln was going to let all blacks go back to Africa, but Douglass convinced him not to.

Watched a documentary a few weeks ago about Black business people and was struck by how many self-made millionaires there were during what we would call the Jim Crow era. Not something I was very much aware of before watching.

In grade school back in the 1950s I remember learning about George Washington Carver, Booker T. Washington, Harriet Tubman and Harriet Beecher Stowe in history classes. Not in black history classes, but as part of plain ol’ American History while covering the appropriate events and time frames.

It's sad that blacks are being robbed of all the good in real history.
