Not the OP, but I have a sincere question - Voter in NJ

Could you please say what your basic political philosphy/philosophies is/are? What were once the ideals of the Democratic Party seem to have completely disappeared from their platform. My sense is many Republicans or conservatives may agree with you on many points if you are a Democrat of old. However, it seems that some current Democrats are not aware of the marked shift in the party's agenda. In some cases, it seems almost antithetical to that of years past.

The use of identity politics seems to focus on labels rather than ideals. When someone says "Democrat" or "Republican," it can conjure up a profile that may in no way reflect that person's viewpoints. While I generally regard myself as a conservative-leaning undeclared voter, I often disagree with others who would claim the same description.

I'm very interested in hearing different opinions and how people arrive at those opinions. We can actually discuss those things. We may agree on more things than we think.
