On page 31, one can find the following:
HONORS ALL GENDER IDENTITIES
Changes pronouns and familial relationships IN THE HOUSE RULES to be gender neutral or removes references to gender, as appropriate, TO ENSURE WE ARE INCLUSIVE of all Members, Delegates, Resident Commissioners and their families - including those who are nonbinary.
I myself can remember when everything referred to “he” or “him,” and I as a female felt excluded. Over time, those practices evolved and continue to do so currently.
There are American citizens who prefer to go by the pronouns and/or familial relationships that they themselves have chosen as part of their identity. They matter.
