Cuties - wow are not Posted: Sep 15th, 2020 - 11:27 pm In Reply to: That question has been answered already. - Next.
One thing I haven't yet seen addressed anywhere in regard to this is that 11-year-old girls do not understand the "power" of their "femininity," attractiveness, etc. They see sensuality/sexuality in the media, they are encouraged to compete to be the most "beautiful," and they see it as mostly attention and approval. They do NOT understand what they are provoking -- even inviting -- in men and boys, or that they may well themselves be blamed for the consequences of their behavior. This is one of the major reasons young girls need to be protected, as well as educated about what "advertising availability" means. How is throwing all your talent into a "come and get it" message "empowering?" I work in family services, where I see child sexual exploitation of every gender and age all day every day. Children need and deserve a period of innocence and protection to acquire knowledge and wisdom and hopefully emerge into the big world equipped to not only look out for themselves but also help and love others. And by the way, that ideally involves respect and cooperation within the family, not rebellion.
