Did you know that an elephant is very resourceful and doesn't have to rely on other animals for much at all?

This is what I found out: The elephant's trunk is a combination of their nose and upper lip and is able to touch, grasp and smell. In addition to sucking up water to squirt in their mouths and picking up food, elephants' trunks are used for greeting, caressing, threatening and throwing dust over their bodies. With their keen sense of smell, elephants can find water up to 12 miles away. This was interesting: Elephants help not only themselves but other animals as well when they dig into dry stream beds or other spots to uncover water that is lurking below the surface. They often create very large holes by digging with their feet, trunks and tusks, working until they reach an adequate supply of water. This is amazing!

I also found out that elephants have been known to pick up and throw animals that annoy them, including humans. Oh my...

This is known about donkeys: In their natural environment — not staggering along dusty roads while carrying heavy loads of bricks — donkeys are playful, gentle animals who form faithful bonds and express an eagerness to learn. Exceptionally intelligent, they have phenomenal memories (and can recall complex routes and recognize animals they haven’t seen for years) and also have a logical, flexible approach to problem-solving.

People who know donkeys report that they are smart, personable, and affectionate. They understand dozens of voice commands, come running when they are called, and are fiercely loyal to those they trust. - This information is all according to a group based in India that works with different animals of the world.

So there you have it. No reason to be sad. Both the elephant and the donkey have their own unique wonderful skills, talents and qualities.
