Trump doesn't take a salary either.
I also see it as a favor to anyone who lives near another potential venue for the meeting. A G-7 summit is a disruptive pain in the butt, and I can pretty much guarantee that there would be a lot of whining and complaining from the locals if it was held anywhere else.
The more the rages, the more powerful Trump appears.
Plus all the death threats...
