Women fought for the right to vote, to own property, to work (boy, that was crazy!!! LOL), and other rights that they never had even in the 1900s. They were the property of their husband. When he died, his will would state exactly what she was allowed to keep, right down to the chamber pot. No will? The sons got everything and if no sons, it was sold off.
That woman who made the comment had better take some history lessons. She doesn't know a thing about women's rights.
