attention away from the Ukraine story by tweeting threats to withdraw troops from Syria to the detriment of Kurdish allies who helped root out ISIS, against the objections of many, many advisors (including Republicans) who say this would be disastrous and probably enable ISIS to return and cause Turkey to attack the Kurdish fighters, which Turkey has threatened to do. He's now bacing off on doing this. But is was just one big deflection. Happily, the deflection period didn't last too long.
