Woodrow Wilson: "Progressive." Segregated federal employees. Segregated the military. Openly condemned our founding documents and called them "outdated."
Margaret Sanger: "Progressive." Founded Planned Parenthood with the explicit goal of eliminating "undesirables" like blacks and retarded people. Feted by the KKK for her stance on eugenics.
John Dewey: "Progressive" Took Marx's pronouncement on government schooling and ran with it.
Progressives (in a nutshell): Government in everything; the individual in nothing.
More recently, when the term "liberal" became tainted, the "liberals" began describing themselves as "progressives."
