I had injections in my low back before my surgery and it wasn’t too bad but wasn’t painless either. This was after I had an mri showing that I had a bulging disk in my L5-S1 region.
I also transcribed for a pain management doctor in-house for a couple of years, as well as A LOT of pain medicine physicians when working at home. I can’t remember a scenario where they went forward with injections for back pain WITHOUT performing an MRI first to see exactly what’s going on and what’s causing the pain in the patient’s back first.
