I remember two groups of people opposed to forced busing. Those who objected to their schools being integrated with students from a distant neighborhood and those who objected to their children being transported to a distant part of town. These parents would no longer have easy access to the school. It was easy to dismiss the first group as racist bigots. The objections of the second group were a little more difficult to ignore. But they were ignored.

Forced busing also forced children to attend schools that were often run by politicians who their parents did not elect.
