This is just an opinion piece by a former border agent. The Democrats are not advocating for open borders, never have and never will. What we do advocate is more humane treatment of families and children, especially those seeking asylum about which there are already laws that are being broken by border agents at the direction of the government. The surge of immigration has not been caused by the Democratic Party but in part by the deplorable conditions in central American countries and in part by the lack of immigration enforcement in MEXICO allowing migrants to get into their country and travel to their northern border with the United States. I hope everyone opens their eyes to the facts that one political party is not the cause of this immigration surge, and by everyone working together, instead of pointing fingers at each other and calling each other names, we can solve this humanitarian crisis.
