I'd like to know why Wikileaks is on the hook for - classified info but the NYT is not!

I think that key distinction is why the DOJ charged Assange the way they did. If they went after him for receiving and publishing the info they’d have to put a whole lot of fake news “journalists” in prison.

At least so far, Assange is not on the hook for receiving or publishing classified information. He’s accused of helping to steal it. That is a key distinction. From the indictment, there is some evidence he did help; up to a jury to decide.

So it depends what “on the hook” means. If NYT helped steal classified information, under this application/interpretation of the law, it should also be charged. But this indictment isn’t about receiving or publishing. There could be more coming.
